I april lanserte Ebsco en ny strategi for deling av metadata. I og med at en del Ebsco-baser ikke har vært delt med andre og dermed ikke søkbare direkte i Oria, spurte vi ExLibris, som er leverandør av Oria, hvordan dette ville få påvirkning på innhold i sentralindeksen og det som er søkbart i discoveryverktøyet.

Dette var svaret vi fikk:
«On April 18th EBSCO released their new policy on metadata sharing and technology collaboration by which some of their databases would be available for indexing by discovery services in return for technology collaboration. In the past couple of weeks we have actively solicited feedback on this EBSCO policy from a wide range of mutual customers. Based on this feedback and our own analysis of the specific databases included in the EBSCO offer, we have identified a significant gap between what EBSCO has offered and what customers license from EBSCO and would like to see indexed in Primo.

We have requested a meeting with EBSCO to reconcile this gap and reach an agreement that will allow customers to search the EBSCO content they subscribe to through Primo.

We aim to establish a long-lasting and balanced relationship with EBSCO to the benefit of our mutual customers, and will update you after our discussions with EBSCO.»

Vi håper at dette vil komme på plass relativt snart slik at Ebsco-materiale er tilgjengelig på lik linje med materiale fra andre leverandører.
